Room: Molise 1 & 2
Description: Do you feel there are subtle dynamics occurring in your workplace or college? Do you feel that you are open and fair-minded? Unconscious bias (also referred to as implicit or hidden bias) occurs when our pre-existing stereotypes, beliefs, attitudes, and representations about others subtly influence our behaviors and decisions - usually in a negative way. Research has shown that individuals who consider themselves committed to equality still engage in subtle forms of unconscious bias. Join this session where we will discuss what unconscious bias is, how to identify when it is occurring, and how to minimize it when you do see it happening.
Learning Objectives:
Learn what unconscious bias is and understand that all humans have biases based on who we are
Learn how to identify when unconscious bias is occurring
Explore how to minimize unconscious bias when you do see it happening
