Dr. Marie-Odile Fortier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) since 2022. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor for 4 years at the University of California, Merced, and in her first faculty role, Dr. Fortier contributed to the development of sustainable energy degree programs at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. She is an NSF CAREER awardee (2021) and has 2 NSF Graduate Research Fellows on her team. Dr. Fortier leads the Geospatial Energy Resources and Life Cycle Assessment (GERLCA) research group at UNLV, analyzing the climate change impacts of energy technologies. Dr. Fortier purposefully developed her group's structure and culture to function for all, including for neurodivergent members like herself. She aims to proliferate inclusive practices that retain and support neurodiverse talent in science and engineering fields.
